The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) and the Utah Department of Commerce today announced the launch of the Utah Pro-Human AI Elevation Awards, a new statewide recognition program that honors Utah-connected companies that are using artificial intelligence to create measurable benefits for workers, communities and consumers.

The awards are open to companies across industries headquartered in Utah or with a significant presence in the state. Companies do not need to develop AI products or services to qualify. The program recognizes organizations that are using AI in ways that align with Utah’s Pro-Human AI framework and keep people at the center of technological progress.

The awards will include three categories:

Workforce Elevation Award — Recognizes companies using AI to help their people do more, learn faster, build new skill sets, and take on greater responsibilities. 

Community Advancement Award — Recognizes companies using AI to address genuine community needs in areas such as health care, education, public safety, and government. 

Pro-Human Breakthrough Award — Recognizes companies building AI products and applications with accountability as a deliberate part of the design.

Deadline to Nominate is September 30!

All finalists will also be considered for the overall Pro-Human AI Elevation Award, which will go to the company that makes the strongest case that responsible, human-centered AI enables long-term business success. A public voting period tied to the grand prize award will follow later this year.

New Kahlert Children’s Mental Health Center brings specialized care for young children and families closer to home.

For more than 60 years, The Children’s Center Utah has provided specialized infant and early childhood mental health care to young children, families, and caregivers in Salt Lake County. Now, that care is expanding.

The Children’s Center Utah has opened Kahlert Children’s Mental Health Center in Lehi, its first Utah County location and an important step toward expanding access to specialized early childhood mental health services statewide.

Why Utah County?

Utah County is the fastest-growing county in the state, has Utah’s youngest median age, and is home to approximately 60,000 children from birth through age six.

Until now, many Utah County families seeking The Children’s Center Utah’s specialized services had to travel to Salt Lake County for care. The new Lehi center brings that support directly into one of Utah’s fastest-growing communities.

The center was made possible through broad public and private support, including state funding, generous private donors, and land donated by Intermountain Health on its Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Campus in Lehi.

Located directly across the street from Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Center Utah operates as an independent mental health care provider. Its services complement the pediatric mental health care available at Primary Children’s Hospital, reflecting a shared understanding that children’s physical and mental well-being are deeply connected.

Specialized Care for Utah’s Youngest Children

At both its Salt Lake County and Utah County locations, The Children’s Center Utah provides comprehensive mental health care exclusively for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families and caregivers.

The Kahlert Children’s Mental Health Center is now providing outpatient mental health services for children from birth through age six. Its Therapeutic Preschool Program will begin at the Lehi location in January.

By bringing these services closer to home, The Children’s Center Utah can help reduce barriers to treatment and reach more children during some of the earliest and most formative years of their lives.
