Silicon Slopes exists to empower entrepreneurs to build and innovate. Our mission is to ensure Utah remains the best place in the world to start, grow, and scale a company.

We do this by serving Utah companies and entrepreneurs by providing a voice, connections, events, resources, education, and community.

For too long, Silicon Slopes has been saddled with the reputation (deserved or undeserved) of being an insular organization focused solely on the needs of Utah’s most prominent entrepreneurs and companies.

I’m committed to changing this perception and ensuring this organization grows the community’s collective network so that we continue to rise together. I believe in the power of community. Further, I believe opportunity and access only exist to all if we’re willing to extend them to all.

Google keeps cookies in Chrome

In a significant reversal, Google has decided to retain cookies in its Chrome browser, abandoning its four-year effort to eliminate them.

Google's decision comes after facing various hurdles, including objections from digital advertising firms and regulators to its proposed replacement technologies. While Chrome users can currently block cookies, Google will now ask users to choose whether to enable or disable them.

Google’s updated approach, announced by Anthony Chavez, Vice President of Privacy Sandbox, aims to enhance user choice while continuing discussions with regulators and the advertising industry.

This change comes after a prolonged investigation by U.K. regulators and delays in Google’s initial timeline to phase out cookies by 2022.
