So you don’t get health insurance through your job? That’s okay, you still have options.
And University of Utah Health Plans can help!
Sign up for Individual and Family health insurance by January 15th for a Feb 1st start date.
Who needs this type of health insurance?
Marketplace (or individual and family) plans are for people who don’t get insurance through their job—for example: freelancers, startup employees, people in between jobs, small businesses, etc.—and for people who don’t qualify for Medicaid or Medicare.
When people choose University of Utah Health Plans, can they only go to U of U Health doctors & facilities?
Nope! Our plans allow you to choose several doctors and facilities outside of U of U Health, with over 12,000 doctors and 44 hospitals in network across the state.
Why do people need health insurance?
Financial protection and peace of mind—if something goes wrong, you have medical and pharmacy coverage.
Staying healthy at a lower cost (preventive care like immunizations, cancer screenings, and annual wellness exams are covered at no cost to you).
Plus, a lot of people can get help paying for their health insurance and they might not even know it (subsidies, tax credits, and cost sharing reduction plans). Thanks to these options, healthcare.gov says 4 out of 5 people qualify for healthcare coverage at $10 or less per month.
Health Insurance can be complicated and sometimes confusing. University of Utah Health Plans is available to help, visit uofuhealthplans.org.
